Fifty-three years ago, the Legion of Christ received the Decretum Laudis. The Decree of Praise is the official recognition the Holy See issues to institutes of consecrated life, bringing them under its direct jurisdiction. What years ago, started as “The Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Virgin of Sorrows” with a handful of minor seminarians in Mexico, today has become a Congregation of nearly 1,000 priests and more than 1,500 religious in formation. The Legion of Christ rejoices in the Lord and gives thanks for all what it and its members have learned in all these years. “The Lord has been good to us, and we are grateful” (Psalm 126:3).
