A Visit to the MET – Br. Andrew Wing, LC On June 5
th, the Humanists enjoyed a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. They were exposed to nearly 2,500 years of artwork reflecting the culture of a unique civilization. This visit allowed the brothers to see the artwork firsthand, that they leaned about in the classroom this past academis year.
Fr. Andreas Kramarz, LC guided the First Year Humanists through halls filled with ancient art like the eternal statuary of the Egyptian Pharaohs, and the elegant beauty of Ancient Greek sculpture. The Second Year Humanists set off in groups to observe some of the more modern artwork from Impressionism to the present day. These groups allowed them to dialogue about the artwork, which enhanced their appreciation while gaining a new perspective.
