Every year, we remember the days, the moments that changed the world forever: Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Sunday of the Resurrection – without these days and all they contain, our faith has no meaning. And every year we are joined in our celebrations by young men who come to experience Christ, and to discover if this is the path God is calling them to follow. This year 47 high school and college-aged men attended the Easter Test Your Call Retreat. We began the Sacred Triduum the afternoon of Holy Thursday, with the Mass of the Last Supper. At the end of mass, we processed to the Altar of Repose, where we kept watch with Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. Good Friday was marked with solemnity and an atmosphere of silence, culminating in the Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion around three o’clock in the afternoon. During these days, the visitors had talks and meditations geared towards hearing and understanding God’s call, and unpacking the charism of Regnum Christi and what it means to be a Legionary – including a Q & A session with Fr. John Connor, LC. On Saturday, they went on a hike with some of the brothers and priests. That night we celebrated the Resurrection with the beautiful liturgy of the Mass in the Holy Night. Our prayers go out to those young men who shared these days with us and are discerning their vocation to the Legion.
