On January 16
th to 18
th, the second-year humanities students went to Washington, D.C. to participate in the 46
th annual March for Life. We also took advantage of the trip to have a cultural visit in the city.
On Thursday 17
th, we went together to Arlington National Cemetery. There we visited the John F. Kennedy’s tomb and the Monument to the Unknown Soldier. This was a special moment that helped us to reflect on the value of sacrifice and self-giving for one’s country. Then, we divided in groups to walk around the city. In the evening we headed to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception to participate in the opening Mass of the Vigil of Prayer for the fruits of the march. It was amazing to see so many people, especially young people, gathered to pray for the protection of life in all its stages.
The next day, early in the morning, we participated in the Youth Rally and Mass for Life, organized by the Archdiocese of Washington in the Capital One Arena. There we joined thousands of young Catholics to pray for the fruits of the event. Afterwards, we went out to the streets to start the March, along with other Regnum Christi Members from different cities.
After we finished, we went back to Cheshire, CT, with many reflections in our hearts about the gift of life.
