Br. Eleazar Palma and Br. Erik Burckel from Cheshire, headed to San Antonio, Texas on January 3
rd for a four-day Catholic youth conference called SEEK 2017. The Legionaries of Christ set up a vocation booth at the event, which was sponsored by the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, FOCUS, and were able to meet and spend time with many of the 13,000 young people in attendance. The event boasted some of the top Catholic speakers from around the country, including Jason and Crystalina Evert, Lou Holtz, Fr. Mike Schmitz, and FOCUS founder, Curtis Martin. In addition to top-quality praise and worship music, the attractions of San Antonio’s touristy Riverwalk, and the size and professionalism of the Henry B. Gonzalez convention center, the biennial conference offered a solidly Catholic experience punctuated by a motivational homily from Bishop Gustavo of San Antonio. Over the four days, there were opportunities for adoration and confession, and the youth in attendance heard a recurring theme of becoming true disciples and apostles for the Lord.
