Sorrowing, suffering, and hoping; we accompany Christ to his Cross. On Saturday, April 8
th, the voices of hungry souls filled the halls. The choir entered to applause and proceeded to sing of the passion of our Lord. The concert alternated between music and reflections on Christ’s passion. Tearing eyes, flowed from sorrowful hearts. The brothers gave reflections on: the Agony in the Garden, the Flagellation, the Crowning with thorns, the Fall, and the Crucifixion. One of our guests wrote in gratitude:
“The concert was much more than a ‘concert’. An exceptionally moving and effective way to present the Passion. The brothers were great – the choreography of the music, art and words was very well done.” A favorite song amongst the guests was
Miserere Mei, which is the Latin rendition of Psalm 50 (51). It is a psalm that begs God for mercy. We are all sinners and need the mercy won for us on the Cross. It is this love of Christ that frees us from the chains of our sin. And it is this love that we remember on Good Friday. We are the ones that nail him to the Cross. Ours are the faces spattered with blood. And ours are the hands bearing the whips. Have mercy on me, Miserere Mei.
