Thank you so much for being part of our seminary life here at Cheshire. Your financial support of our seminarians makes it possible for us to carry out our mission. We are forming young men who desire to be holy priests. They will work for the Kingdom of Christ in a society that has all but forgotten God. A glance at the morning newspaper is proof that the world and the Church need young men such as these. Our emphasis on spiritual and intellectual formation prepares these young men who believe that God is calling them to participate in his mission of saving the world.
As we begin Lent, I am sending you my Rector’s Annual Appeal for 2020. I would like to report on what we have done, thanks to generous support from donors like you. Ash Wednesday kicks off the season of Lent, marked by prayer, penance and service. The theme of this year’s appeal is service. We are forming young men who know how to serve. Service is learned by doing. Brothers learn service of the community through activities like cutting the grass and washing pots and pans. Service to neighbors becomes real through street missions and visiting the elderly at a local nursing home.
When you support the Cheshire Novitiate and College of Humanities, you are sharing in the joy of evangelization that characterizes the young men who are studying here and preparing themselves for the priesthood. I think that images are powerful and I would like to invite you to check out our pictures, which we publish on our website and our social media channels.
Will you help us this year? This report includes the results from 2019. We are so blessed to have good friends like you! Your sacrificial gift during Lent, along with your prayers, helps us to be a valuable resource to the Church. Thank you again and please accept my Lenten blessing for you and your loved ones.
Gratefully yours in Christ,
Fr. Kevin Meehan, LC
Rector
