Meet Br. Zachary Le Leux
God can’t be outdone in generosity! My story is all about a personal relationship with Our Lord and experiencing how God always has something way better in store for us than we can imagine.
From the very beginning, a certain reverence and respect for the faith were instilled in me, although it didn’t go any further than that. In 2018, my family and I moved from California to Dallas, Texas, where I enrolled in The Highlands School for high school. There I was surrounded by amazing friends, teachers, Legionary priests, and Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi. Little by little, I became involved in various apostolates and activities offered at the school, including Holy Week missions and ECyD. God was speaking to my heart and revealing to me what truly mattered in light of eternity. Through The Legion and Regnum Christi, I was able to have a profound experience of God’s personal love for me.
One day, out of the blue, the question came to me: why not give it all and follow Our Lord in the Legion? At that moment, I didn’t know what the vocation entailed, but I remained curious.
In the last few years of high school, I became more open to the priesthood and even started to desire it. I came to visit Cheshire for the Ignition Retreat, which the Regnum Christi missionaries put on every year. Being with the brothers in Cheshire only made me more interested in the vocation.
However, I knew that God was calling me to give a mission year with Regnum Christi first. I knew that this would be the perfect opportunity to thank God for the blessings He had given me during my high school years and to discern the call as I would be living with Legionary priests. During this time I started to experience a ridiculous number of signs from God that were all pointing to priesthood in the Legion.
My time as a missionary in Mexico was both incredible and challenging. It was the first time in my life that I truly learned to depend on God, as there was so much that I didn’t know. Through all my struggles, He was always present, walking with me and guiding me.
During my time in Monterrey, I witnessed the first profession of vows of a group of Legionary novices as well as some Consecrated Women. I was blown away by their example of joy and sense of purpose in their lives. I also had the privilege to witness how God was working in the lives of the people I worked with at the school and in the ECyD club. Towards the end of my first semester, I was starting my 6-day silent retreat with all of the other missionaries. I knew that during this retreat, I would be discerning my next steps: whether to go to the summer candidacy program or return home. I knew that God would give me the courage and peace to say yes to His plans. The first words that the preacher said to us were the Angel Gabriel’s words to Zechariah from the gospel: “Do not be afraid!” Then, at the end of the retreat, all of us missionaries received “Gifts from the Child Jesus,” a tradition where everyone gets a small message for the new year. My message read: “I give to you my peace, so that you can give glory to God like the angels and saints.” With that, I finished the rest of my mission year and got ready for summer candidacy.
God has never stopped revealing Himself to me in such a uniquely personal and mysterious way. Pray for me so that I will continue to follow his path of love and of true joy that He has designed for me so that, through me, He might bring others into friendship with Him.
Come and experience the joy when Br. Zachary makes his first vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience on Saturday, August 9, 2025!
